Back from a Break

No not that kind of break. I actually ran a half marathon in October and started recovering my zwift power through November and December. Got into a nice steady rythem of rides on zwift because I dont do cold as well as adding in some weight training for the first time in way too long. No I am talking about this kind of break:
I particularly enjoyed that the report said there were "fractures in the seventh and ninth ribs at least". Like we're there more? Did you see 2 and think after 2 does it really matter? Good times...
How did I do this you may ask. Well let me tell you it was a combination of bad luck and idiocy. As a former rugby player I decided to join in on the annual boxing day game at the local rugby club which I played all my rugby with from age 10 to 31. This game has the over 30 players up against the under 30 players. I was just getting into the swing of the game after not having played since the previous boxing day game when I got the ball and started heading up field. It was all going great until I ran straight into one of the young guys. Next thing I knew I was up in the air and my hip were going up as my shoulders went down. While the field was a mud pit there was one section of nice firm ground and I found it as the others guys weight went straight through his shoulder and into my ribs.
After this I took a few days off from any sort of activity as it hurt to do pretty much anything including lying down, standing, sitting or really even breathing. After about a week things were starting to feel not good but I would still say better. I decided it was time to get back on the bike trainer and see how it felt. That experiment lasted a grand total of 27 minutes...
Honestly it could have been worse and things should only improve from here! Next step is to continue getting back on the bike and not attempt to get on a rugby field any time soon. Once things are feeling OK lt will be time to set some goals and maybe train to accomplish them?
Stay tuned.
