Battles with Booger

After the long ride and bonus run weekend I pretty much struggled my way through the week after. It took until about Wednesday before I felt like a functional human being again. I may have overdone things a bit...
It was quite nice to have a bit of a lighter week as Booger decided once again that he is utterly incapable of sleeping through the night. When he was younger he would wake up and yell and cry for several hours in the night with no interest in calming down or going back to sleep. Now it has moved more into singing laughing and yelling for me, Kylie and then most unfortunately for his sister who is the next room! What's better than one awake child at three in the morning? If you answered 2 awake children at three in the morning you would be wrong. It's much worse than one. Unfortunately I can't stay mad at this face.

His non sleeping phases usually only last a week or two but when they do happen the really take a toll on my sleep time especially with the 5:30am wake ups for morning rowing practice.

By the end of this week I was going to bed at basically the same time as the kids. Thanks Booger...
The following week I was back on both biking and crushing my fastest recorded 10k on Strava. Kylie was also on her running game as he put down her fastest Strava recorded 5km. This is important as we both registered for the Virtual Scotiabank Vancouver Half Marathon. This takes place in June so it will be a nice tune up before the half Ironman in (hopefully) July. The main draw are getting these sweet socks for doing a 5km, 10km and half Marathon in the month long race period.

Big fan of those socks.
This otherwise great week of training was sent slightly askew as Kylie's Dad went in for a long awaited knee replacement surgery. This meant like that our family was temporarily expanded by one small and fluffy member.

Atleast he is better behaved than Booger.
Once that craziness subsided we got in a great family run in at Buttertubs Marsh with me pushing Adi and Beauden in the stroller. It was really nice to exercise with another human being even if it was interrupted by the musings of a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old. Most of their talking points revolved around snacks but then so did a good chuck of Kylie and I's conversation during the run🤷♂️.
This was officially my last week of unstructured training as I finally found a coach! Apparently my brother-in-law, Shane, sits on the board of a triathlon club in Calgary that my nephew is member of. That probably should have been the first place I looked to to find coaching but the important thing is that Shane got me connected up with one of their coaches that takes on virtual clients. Thanks Shane! I am looking forward to being told what to do and just doing it rather than second guessing every workout.
DBS!
