When I started this site I had hopes that the first couple of posts would be all about how we were just crushing km's and in full send mode. That is not going to happen.

The last couple of days have been a bit of a struggle to get anything done as the kids both came down with snotty noses (not COVID) and were unable to got to their regular daycare days. With COVID distancing measures the kids have not really been sick over the last year which is a very positive thing but apparently has a one unforseen negative effect, they have no memory of being sick so are handling it terribly. Adi is better with it than Beaudi but would randomly break down crying. Beauden (or as we often call him: Booger) is MISERABLE. Let me be clear this is a very minor cold, a generally clear runny nose, no cough, no fever, no sneezing, but based on Beauden's actions he clearly thinks he is dying and wants everyone else to be as miserable as he is.

Now at this point you may be asking why is he called Booger? Well a good example of why is when I tried to wipe his excessively snotty nose with a tissue which he successfully fought off. After several more tries I gave up and put him down. He promptly grabbed the sleeve of my sweater and wiped his nose with it and ran off. This is pretty much par for the course on how he operates in life.

Anyways missing 2 of the 3 daycare days this week really put wrench in things as I usually try to pack a lot into those days both work wise as well as a longer workout or more recently work on our kitchen renovation. Normally I multi-task quite a bit throughout the day but the last few days I have taken it to the level of a professional sport!

Prepare Adi's oddly specific lunch orders while replying to emails? ✅

Update spreadsheets while on the bike trainer? ✅

Repair a rowing shell while coaching a dryland practice? ✅

Sing along to Frozen while modifying training plans? ✅

Luckily Kylie took the afternoons of work for those two days so I could I get a bit of work done undisturbed as well as run the regularly scheduled rowing practices. In terms of workouts we have both gotten 2 sessions in on the bike trainer. Not super long ones but the lure of sleep won out after about an hour. The kids seem to be almost back to normal so hopefully this weekend will lead to a solid weekend of training or not!

DBS!
